I talked with a homeless man today as well as gave him some money to get food. Hey, we all need to eat! He shared 3 things that stuck out to me.
1) He had a life of constant let downs. He shared stories of how his family and friends didn't follow through on their commitments to him
2) His father committed suicide when he was an early teenager
3) Throughout our conversation, he had a positive attitude about life, people and said that he was blessed with good health and he is thankful for that.
What I learned was you can never judge another person because everyone has a different life journey. Some people have opportunities throughout life that they can take advantage of, some people have family and friends to guide good decisions. Whatever the situation is, it is important to stop and take a moment to reflect on your life to see how you made the decisions you have made (good or bad) and see what influences helped you make them.
