Treat Homeless People With Dignity
Homeless men and women are part of an expanding, often faceless community. When we come in contact with a homeless person, we may feel repulsed, annoyed, even angered as we avert our eyes and think, "Why don't they do something to help themselves?" or "If I look them in the eye, that'll just
Donate Old Eyeglasses
Donating your old eyeglasses can save someone in a developing nation from unemployment. With the cost of glasses equaling a year’s salary in some countries, donated eyeglasses are the only feasible way to bring sight to many visually impaired. These recycled eyeglasses can be the difference between a blacksmith continuing his work or closing up shop, or the factor that enables a woman to support

Serving Others - Ex Homeless Man
I met a 56 year-old guy today who has now devoted his life working full-time in a homeless shelter so he can help others and inspire them to better their lives through his life story. Just 3 years ago, he was hooked on crack and other drugs living on the streets. 20 years of his life was spent homeless and in prison 3 different times. He told me that one day, he decided that he needed to learn how to ask for and accept help.

I met a homeless man today
I talked with a homeless man today as well as gave him some money to get food. Hey, we all need to eat! He shared 3 things that stuck out to me.
1) He had a life of constant let downs. He shared stories of how his family and friends didn't follow through on their commitments to him

Secret act of kindness
Do a secret act of kindness for someone else today. Leave a post-it note in a public area that will lift up someone's spirit such as "you are beautiful, have a great day." Leave a $5 bill in an envelope at a park where people in need are with a note saying "have a cup of coffee or buy something you would like." Post what you did here on this website...
Families Sleeping in the Cold in Apartments
The cost of home heating oil is on the rise. This winter is supposed to be a very cold winter on the East coast of the United States. There are going to be many families and children who will not be able to heat their apartments because of the cost. During this winter when you are cold, remind yourself that there are many going to be extremely cold and
Family received Christmas presents
Made a Christmas present delivery to a family (2 parents and a child) last week. If it were not for the kindness of people donating money, these gifts would not have been purchased. If it were not for volunteers, the presents would not have made it into this home. If it were not for people helping others, this family would have woken up on Christmas morning with no presents to open. Because good people came together, these parents must have been delighted to see their child's face smiling as he opened up his presents. The parents must have been very happy to open up some presents of their own.
